“A Prominent Place” Winchester’s 275 Years in 50 Artifacts

Artifacts provide not only tangible links to the past, but offer a medium through which history's many complexities can be explored and understood. In commemoration of Winchester's 275th anniversary the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society and Shenandoah University have partnered to produce this volume which explores the city's diverse history through a series of fifty artifacts from the Society's collections, local museums, historic sites, and archives. A panel discussion on the book "A Prominent Place" Winchester's 275 in 50 Artifacts

Abram's Delight, the oldest house in Winchester, built in 1754, is decorated with holiday floral arrangements by local garden clubs. There will be living history in the 1780's log cabin.
